Also known as Banco de Oro or BDO, BDO Unibank, Inc. is the largest bank in the Philippines owned by the SM Group of Companies under tycoon Henry Sy. With the merger of Banco de Oro and Equitable PCI Bank, the bank has since been known Banco de Oro Unibank, Inc. It started as a thrift bank called Acme Savings Bank in 1968 which was later acquired by the Sy Group. It became a commercial bank in 1984 and a universal bank in 1996.

As a full-service universal bank, BDO Unibank provides products and services to the retail and corporate markets including lending (corporate, middle market, SME, and consumer), deposit-taking, foreign exchange, brokering, trust and investments, credit cards, corporate cash management and remittances. Through its subsidiaries, the Bank offers Leasing and Financing, Investment Banking, Private Banking, Bancassurance, Insurance Brokerage and Stock Brokerage services.

With the growing trend towards online and remote banking, BDO Unibank established its own Call Center in order to facilitate the services of its products remotely. The call center functions at the heart of its product and services is customer service which is primarily responsible for providing customer service through prompt answering of inbound phone calls. These services included handling customer complaints, inquiries, requests and other transactions that can be facilitated remotely through the phone.
