My son won a kyowa convection oven in a raffle this Christmas. The model number is 3901. The product looks good and following the operating instructions we were able to roast pork for the 1st time during the Christmas eve dinner. Per instructions we cleaned the unit following the manual.

On new year’s eve we again used the unit and to our disappointment the unit did not turn ON. The Temp knob was soft and freely turning effortlessly. We tried to look for the warranty certificate along with the receipt inside the box but did not find it. It must have been with the person who purchase the unit. Since it was won in a raffle we dont know where to ask for it.

My experience working on HVAC in the middle east prompted me to open the unit as the problem seems very simple.

I found out that the plastic extender inserted to the temp adjusting knob was deformed and would no longer turn the thermostat controller.

It looks like it is a fundamental design weakness overlooked by the designer. Otherwise the system is excellent. The intense heat must have caused the deformation of the black plastic knob extender. Perhaps if it was made of aluminum material or any heat resistant extender the oven will be more reliable.

I wrote this email hoping to get a spare extender though I’m already hopeless that the unit is already a useless appliance since I do not have the warranty certificate. Anyway we got it free through a raffle.

Maybe should we purchase one in the future we will try to avoid Kyowa because of this disappointing experience.

I have a photo of the deformed extender but could not attached in this post.

    Thank you.
