Formerly known as ABN AMRO Bank, Inc., the Royal Bank of Scotland Group Philippines is now known as Robinsons Bank Corp. Founded in 1727, the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), is one of the world’s largest Financial Services Providers offering a range of private and corporate banking that operates in more than 50 countries, across a global network. It provides a range of retail and corporate banking, financial markets, insurance and wealth management services. The Group’s brands include RBS, NatWest, Ulster Bank, Coutts and Citizens.

In the Philippines, the Royal Bank of Scotland is originally known as the ABN AMRO bank which was rebranded as the Royal Bank of Scotland (Philippines). In 2010, the Royal Bank of Scotland (Philippines) Inc. was acquired by Robinsons Bank Corporation and was subsequently named Robinsons Bank Corp. which also merged Robinsons Savings Bank. Robinsons Bank is majority-owned by JG Summit. It operates more than 50 branches and 78 ATMs (as of 2009) and is one of the most innovative, technology driven and customer centric bank in the country today.

Among the pioneering new product offerings of the Bank included “Motorsiklo Ora Mismo” and the 15-Minute Loan for those who need instant cash. It also provides Internet banking, and the “Cardless ATM Transaction”, which allows customers to transact at ATMs without physically needing their ATM Card. Other traditional services included foreign currency deposit accounts for major currencies, savings and current accounts, trust investments, and securities to retail customers, home and auto loans, as well as personal and micro lending products. These services are offered in line with JG Summit’s vision of making life better for the Filipino.
