JG Summit Holdings, Inc is one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines that is owned by is John Gokongwei. It started in 1957 as Universal Corn Products, Inc. (now Universal Robina Corporation) which operated cornstarch plant in Manila. Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company for telecommunications; JG Summit Petrochemicals Corporation and and JG Summit Olefins for petrochemicals; Cebu Air, Inc. for air transportation services Robinsons Bank Corporation for financial services. Incidentally, the conglomerate is also a stakeholder in Meralco, main electric distribution company in the Philippines.
For real estate and property development, JG Summit Holdings, Inc is also the biggest individual shareholder of United Industrial Corporation Limited (UIC), a Singapore listed company, which is one of the major real estate developer in Singapore. Among the most renowned properties and landmarks under UIC included the UIC Building, Singapore Land Tower, SGX CENTRE, The Gateway, Stamford Court, Marina Square, a massive shopping and hotel complex in the Marina Bay, and West Mall, a suburban shopping complex. UIC also has major residential projects such as The Belleforte, The Paterson, and Stevens Loft in prime Orchard Road, as well as One Amber and Grand Duchess at St. Patrick’s in the popular East coast area. It also has property investments in China (Beijing, Chengdu and Hong Kong).
